The Assessment Review Committee (ARC) is preparing to transition into the newly established Revenue Tribunal following the enactment of the Revenue Tribunal Act No. 13 of 2025 by the National Assembly on July 4, 2025. The Act received assent from the Acting President on July 7, 2025, and the Tribunal is set to commence operations on a date to be proclaimed.
To facilitate this smooth transition, a seminar was held on July 25, 2025, at ARC headquarters in Port Louis, led by former Supreme Court Judge and ex-Chairperson of the now-defunct Tax Appeal Tribunal, Justice. D. B. Seetulsingh, SC, GCSK.. The event was attended by Acting Chairperson Mr. Goolshan Sharma Jorai, board members and Staffs.
During the seminar, Mr. Jorai highlighted that the Revenue Tribunal Act 2025 represents a significant step forward in Mauritius’ tax administration. The legislation aims to replace the current Assessment Review Committee with a more structured, transparent, and accessible Revenue Tribunal, thereby streamlining appeals, enhancing transparency, and improving access to justice for taxpayers.
The workshop was covered by GIS Government Information Service.
